Popular pond plants 7/8:

The purple swamp iris (blue flag)

The swamp iris is also called blue swamp iris (blue flag) and is as undemanding as it’s sister, the yellow swamp iris. All parts of the plant are poisonous so we recommend you wear gloves when handling this beautiful iris. The blue flag will not grow as tall as the yellow flag and only reaches an average height of 25 cm so it will not outgrow the neighbouring plants. The blue flag is perfectly suited for small garden ponds.
Advantage: The blue flag will flower without fertiliser.
